What I look for with photos
Want to make the best of what you’ve got? Here’s some tips and tricks to make your photos look so much better!
Tips for quality
Use the nicest camera you own! A DSLR if you have it, or use the highest quality setting on your phone.
Lighting will mean everything when using any device to take photos
Go outside if you don’t have a ring light
Don’t stand in direct sunlight
Google Golden Hour if you want the best lighting that won’t cast harsh shadows everywhere
No selfies! This by itself cheapens the look of a photo. Use a timer or have someone help you.
No Filters. I’m just starting out and I’m not super picky and I can’t say I’ve followed this tip 100%, but I need product photos to be true to the product! If you change the saturation to brighten up a photo, someone is going to buy the product expecting it to be a different color than it actually is!
You may use filters when sharing on your own social media, but the photos you send to me to post on my website must be unedited.
Tips for framing
Make sure the graphic on the apparel is in focus. The only thing that could be blurry in your photos is the background.
Have the graphic on the apparel be visible in every photo!
Nothing should block the graphic. no hair, drawstrings, or props.
If you can’t read what’s on the apparel then no one can.
Make the Apparel pop!
No black backgrounds with a black T-Shirt.
Take portrait photos. Not Landscape.
